As you can see to your right, you can see a steam train made in the Victorian age. This uses a traditional Steam powered mechanics to create kinetic energy to move its locomotive. There is many differences between Real-life Victorian designs and Steampunk designs, The first one is that quite a lot of steam punk designs uses actual Chemical Energy from battery as its source because if you replace it with steam powered then, A, you would need and lot of heat come off that source and , B, because you would need a lot more coal to maintain that heat coming off that source meaning battery’sis just alot more convenient. This was a problem back then because they didn’t know anything about any other energy source other then Steam meaning that they only had certain amount of space in there designs. In the current day, We know about battery meaning that some people that like the conventional Victorian Design format (Heavy Metal, Steam, etc…) can implement today’s knowledge about technology into old designs which might of been an extra-ordinary device back then. Some people choose the Victorian design format then the Current Day design otherwise known as the 21st century design format (Clean Surface, Clean cut lines, Highly advanced) because of the simplicity of the design format of the 21st century.
Most Steam punk designs are mainly a device that we already have access to (Watch, Televisions, etc…) that they didn’t have in the Victorian Century, then what they would do is stick Victorian Fabrics over it and chains and maybe some heavy metal work to make it look Victorian and then it would be classed as steampunk work.
